"Marriott Corporation / Bellevue Place"
Assignment...
Kendall-Ross principal David Kendall needed a great lead image for a development brochure his firm was creating for a prominent client. The existing images of the location were outdated, of dubious quality and did not show recent updates and new features. They could not re-shoot the facility because theproduction deadline was too soon to allow the trees to naturally flourish with summer and look their best. The streets were under repair as well so there was no alternative but to find a digital solution. I had worked in a similar fashion before with David, so we went over the job and i went quickly to work.
Solution...
A suitable base image was located that could be embellished and retouched to reflect the new features, color scheme, logo and other client requests. A high-resolution scan was then stripped of all but the building's facade and sidewalk, which was retouched to eliminate unwanted features. The peprspective was re-worked to improve proportion. Healthy, fully-leafed trees were added in to replace the scan's lifeless saplings and the Bellevue Place logo was given a matching perpspective curve and mounted on the facade. The overall color scheme updated, window reflections and window shades changed using cloned similarities from a portions of an additional image shot at a different time and position. Vehicles were cloned in or moved and pavement was smoothed and retouched. Finally, a bright new sky from my stock library was dropped in to bring the client's list of wishes to life. The image was used 12" x 15".
